This term we have been visiting the library once a week. The children enjoy the walk there pointing out things of interest on the way, particularly the pink flamingos in one of the gardens that we pass. They listen well and follow instructions keeping themselves safe on our journey.
When we arrive the children can engage in free play with the Duplo and choose books that suit their individual preferences. They also like to explore the sensory displays, enjoying the bright colours and different textures. Then before setting off back to preschool, we share a group story and songs, which families from the local community have joined us for.
These trips have been great for increasing the children’s vocabulary, enhancing their communication and language skills, and helping develop that love of reading that will prepare them for school and a lifetime of learning.
